Wildlife tourism in India plays a vital role in conserving the country’s rich flora and fauna. Revenue generated from eco-tourism in and around India’s top national parks has significantly reduced local communities’ reliance on forests for biomass and livelihoods, promoting sustainable development and habitat protection.
India is home to 58 notified tiger reserves (as of 2026) spread across 18 states, managed under Project Tiger and the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). These reserves protect nearly 75% of the world’s wild tiger population and offer world-class wildlife experiences. Among them, several standout tiger reserves have become globally renowned for exceptional tiger sightings, diverse biodiversity, and thrilling safari adventures.
